ABOUT
I am from Winston-Salem, North Carolina and obtained a BS in mathematics from the University of North Carolina (UNC) in May 2018. At UNC, I completed the Baccalaureate Education in Science and Teaching program where I earned a secondary teaching licensure in mathematics for grades 9-12. From there, I attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to obtain a PhD in mathematics and a concurrent MS in statistics with funding support from the NSF-GRFP fellowship. I worked with my advisor Dr. W. Christopher Strickland, PhD on my dissertation titled, "Modeling Substance Use Disorder using Deterministic and Stochastic Approaches and A Bayesian Model of Sudden Death."
I am now a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Psychiatry as a part of the ARGO Neuroscience of Aging Lab. I work under the guidance of Drs. Carmen Andreescu, MD and Helmet Karim, PhD on problems relating to depression, aging, and anxiety using MRI and longitudinal data.
Outside of research, some of my hobbies include knitting, exercise, and caring for my houseplants. I am certified in scuba diving and enjoy going to explore new dive spots. The top picture to the right was from my first dive trip in Cozumel, Mexico (Spring 2022).
The header sunset is a picture I took at Topsail Beach, NC in 2021.
